Description
Phyllomedusa sauvagii, or Painted-Bellied Leaf Frog is particularily adapted for its arid environment. This frog, also called the Waxy Monkey Leaf Frog, coats itself with a waxy secretion to keep in moisture. Also it expels its urine in the form of semi-solid urates.

This frog, owned by David Lawson, shows why these frogs are called "Monkey frogs."
